The One Show is one of the most prestigious award programs in the advertising industry. So what are the benefits of winning one of the highly coveted golden pencils? Just ask the experts.
To spread the word about the show, we began with interviews of past award winners as they described their gold-fueled “return on investment” from entering their work. As you might imagine, the responses were as varied as the all-star cast of legends we spoke with, including John C. Jay of Wieden+Kennedy, Nick Law of R/GA, David Lubars of BBDO, José Mollá of la comunidad and Ted Royer of Droga5. We worked closely with Pum Lefebure and her DC-based Design Army, who created the show materials which directly influenced the character designs and their 45° grid-based world. The animation style veers on experimental, infusing the angular sensibilities of the design language with completely bizarre character movements, semi-obscure references, and innuendo. Just the way we like it.
To bring some real-life realism to the famous voices, we designed each character to reflect some of the industry leaders' key features. Below is a line up of our main characters realized as One Show pencils, with a few extra industry roles represented alongside them.
